Basic Terminology

Air Terminations

    A vertical or horizontal collection/conductor located to intercept lightning discharges. These are connected together to form a network and establishes an area of protection.

Down Conductors

    Conductors of sufficient quantity and capacity to carry these high currents to the ground.

Earthing System

    A system of sufficient quantity, location and depth for earth electrodes to allow low resistance contact to the general earth mass
